365: Day 19 – Candids in NYC

19 09 2011

Hey folks, I wanted to share a couple more photos with you from our trip to NYC over the weekend. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, one of the things that I liked about exploring New York through my viewfinder was the chance to get some great candid shots of people.

Here are two of the shots I got:

Nikon D3100 - f/5.3 - 1/15 sec. - ISO 100 - 44mm

I liked this shot because the main subject is completely oblivious of the fact that I’m photographing her. The young woman is in her own world, debating whether she should splurge on this $3 scarf or not.

Nikon D3100 - f/5.6 - 1/80 sec. - ISO 100 - 55mm

This was one of my favorite shots of the day. Not that it was a particularly great shot, but I think it’s an interesting photo. Particularly because you have an elderly couple – possibly tourists – listening to a young woman as she speaks and gestures with her hands. Along with the elderly couple, an Asian group sits on the bench listening intently.

One can only imagine what is being said in this conversation.
